Association | Hong Kong Laser Class Ranking System Print E-mail

As all ILCA Laser World Championships (Senior, Radial, Masters, Womens, Youth) and
ISAF events such as the World Youth Championships now have entry quotas and/or selection
requirements, the HKLCA has introduced a ranking system for its full sailing members starting from the
2010/2011 season.

The purpose of the ranking system is to provide a clear, fair, and equitable system of ranking for its
sailors each season. Such ranking will then form the basis on which:

  1. Available entry places to ILCA Laser World Championships are allocated to association members
  2. Nominations are made to the HKSF for sailors to attend ISAF events such as the World Youth Championships, Asian Sailing Championships, and Asian Games.

HKLCA – ILCA Ranking Policy

  1. Points are calculated as the number of entries in an event +1, less the result in the event.
  2. Total Points is the aggregate of the points in each event.
  3. Ranking is based on the highest to lowest total points.
  4. Where sailors have equal total points, the sailor with the better result in the HK Championships is ranked higher.
  5. Where sailors do not reside in Hong Kong at the time of the event, their entry has been factored into the total number of entries but not included in rankings.
  6. Rankings for season 2015-2016 will be based on:

1) Dec 12-13 2015 - Hong Kong Laser National Championships.
2) Feb 16-21 2016 - Hong Kong Race Week.
